  2. went to florida again.

But this time we took Bridget with us!

this post is kind of late. we left for florida on may 12th (my b-day) and got back the following saturday.

anyways, the first couple days were filled with rain, which is very abnormal for that time of the year in florida. usually when we come its pretty hot already and sunny all day. but we made the most of it. we have 2 bbqs, went to a zoo, and spent a lot of time walking. we walked on the beach, we walked around downtown delray, and plenty of other places. by the end of most days my ankles were hurting.

eventually the weather cleared up mostly and my family managed to make a trip to miami. bridget and i went on a cruise around star island and other places to look at the scenery surrounding the city. miami is 100 times more beautiful than any city i’ve been to. the buildings are all bright colors as opposed to the gothic architecture of NYC. we also spent some time on the beach getting tan and swimming. i convinced bridget to go into the water past her knee-deep water somehow.

on friday bridget and i went to the miami seaquarium. the trip to this aquarium consisted of two trains and a bus to get there and back. definitely the longest trip i’ve made using public transportation in recent memory. the aquarium was beautiful and there were lots of shows (one had a 5 day old dolphin!). my favorite was the sea lion show. they are just silly. on our way back we even got a glimpse of Mark Wahlberg shooting his latest movie! overall it was a great day.

I’m glad I actually had someone with me who enjoyed doing fun stuff like go to the aquarium or take (really) long walks on the beach! Bridget is the best :)

Inspirational Motivational of the Day: In the coolest move a pro sports team will make this week, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have signed as a free agent former Rutgers defensive tackle Eric LeGrand, who was paralyzed from the neck down in 2010 while playing for Rutgers. Bucs coach Greg Schiano was the coach at Rutgers when LeGrand was injured:

“Leading up to the draft, I couldn’t help but think that this should’ve been Eric’s draft class. This small gesture is the least we could do to recognize his character, spirit, and perseverance. The way Eric lives his life epitomizes what we are looking for in Buccaneer Men.”

LeGrand’s doctors feared he would spend his life a quadriplegic and on a ventilator, but he is killing it in physical therapy. He tweeted a picture of his progress last summer: “Standing up little by little in therapy,” he wrote.
LeGrand returned to the football field on October 29, 2011, one year after his injury, leading the Rutgers team out onto the field at Rutgers’ stadium. The occasion was voted the magazine’s Moment of the Year and graced the cover of Sports Illustrated‘s 2011 year-end issue.
LeGrand’s latest tweet is a pic of a Buccaneers helmet, accompanied by: “We ready!!!”
